Dan Sinai

President and CEO

Dan Sinai joined Episign in August 2023 as their first CEO. Dan is an accomplished Innovation Leader with over 37 years of diverse experience across technology, research, and business development sectors. Prior to joining Episign, Dan served as a Senior Executive at IBM’s Canadian R&D Centre enhancing innovation initiatives nationally by connecting start-ups with IBM’s technological platforms and enterprise clients.

Earlier in his career, Dan was integral to the University of Western Ontario, where he facilitated strategic research plans and managed key research services. He also demonstrated his leadership at the Canadian Language and Literacy Network Inc., where he supported nationwide research and knowledge exchange programs. Dan’s extensive background in leading high-profile innovation efforts in industry, government and educational sectors showcases his capability to navigate complex challenges and lead organizations towards ground-breaking achievements.

Bekim Sadikovic

Founder and Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Sadikovic holds the prestigious position of London Health Sciences Research Chair in Clinical Genomics and Epigenomics and is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, as well as the Department of Pediatrics at Western University. He is also the Scientific and Clinical Director of the Verspeeten Clinical Genome Centre at London Health Sciences, where he spearheads both clinical and translational genomics research focused on the development of genomic and epigenomic biomarkers and diagnostic technologies for rare, complex, and oncological disorders. In his clinical capacity, Dr. Sadikovic serves as the Program Head of the Molecular Diagnostics Program, overseeing the clinical molecular diagnostics laboratories at the London Health Sciences Centre. He completed his PhD at Western University, followed by a Canadian Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellowship at Princess Margaret and SickKids Hospitals. His clinical training includes ABMG Clinical Molecular Genetics and Clinical Cytogenetics Fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Sadikovic is the inventor of the EpiSign technology and a leading principal investigator in numerous national and international studies focusing on the development and application of epigenomic biomarkers in rare diseases and other medical areas.

Tom Currie

Financial Officer

Tom Currie joined the leadership team of Episign in the fall of 2023 as Financial Officer.  He is leading Episign’s financial management and supporting commercialization initiatives.  A seasoned and resourceful CPA and finance leader, with broad experiences working in industry and public practice, Tom draws on his 20 years experience working in the clinical trial industry to provide financial guidance and expertise at Episign.   Most recently, Tom was VP Finance for Alimentiv Inc., a global contract research organization based in London, Ontario and was instrumental in initiating corporate structures and
involved in strategic restructuring as they achieved operational independence from original ownership by Western University.  Tom is a long-time resident of London and is currently working with several small and medium sized enterprises providing financial leadership.

Katy Evans

Administrative Officer

Katy Evans is a dedicated administrative professional with over 15 years of extensive experience in research administration, specializing in finance and human resources. Currently, she serves as an Administrative Officer at EpiSign Inc., where she manages critical administrative functions in a dynamic environment. Additionally, Katy is a dedicated part-time Librarian for Middlesex County, emphasizing her commitment to community service and education.
 
Previously, Katy held significant roles at Western University, including Manager of Administration & Finance at BrainsCAN and Administrative Officer for Research Development, Services & Ethics. Her experience also includes facilitating pre-award grants and managing program operations at the Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network.

Her commitment to mental health advocacy is demonstrated through her certification as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor, underscoring her dedication to community well-being.

David DeSumma

Technology Officer

David N. DeSumma brings over 25 years of progressive experience in information technology and systems management to his role as Technology Officer at Episign Inc. At Episign, David oversees the company’s internal IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal operation and alignment with the company’s strategic goals. His responsibilities encompass managing the company’s IT technology and maintaining robust security and data management practices.

Prior to his current role, David served as the Director of Information Technology at Lerners LLP for 17 years, where he managed comprehensive IT operations across multiple office locations, ensuring efficient technology integration and team leadership. His career at Lerners LLP began as a Programmer and evolved through various leadership positions, reflecting his deepening expertise and impact in the field. David holds multiple diplomas from Fanshawe College, including Systems Analyst, Information Systems, and Business Information Systems, providing a solid academic foundation to his practical skills in technology management and planning.

Known for his exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, David is adept at training staff, managing complex IT projects, and presenting strategic insights to executive teams. His commitment to innovation and meticulous planning continues to drive technological advancements and operational efficiency at Episign Inc.
